Young Onset Dementia Care

Our specialised Care Team focus on the individual needs of residents (which maybe complex) with care plans drawn up with Individual residents and support care staff. Our emphasis is on fun activities, leisure pursuits and meaningful activities of daily life.
The Care team is highly trained and knowledgeable to work in a person-centred way for individuals with Young Onset Dementia, which includes being able to:
- Provide a Health action plans, which are holistic, person-centred and flexible.
- Build on individual strengths and personal preferences, whilst encouraging maximum independence.
- Provide creative approaches, looking at what individuals can do, offering freedom and empowerment in life skills and style.
- Provide a balanced male and female staff team for individual preferences in care.
- Involve Individuals and relatives in staff selection and the day to day running of Ash.
- Respond to the diversity of individuals such as gender, age, and disability
- Develop a living action plan for immediate, medium and long-term plans and aspirations, which includes making own choices.
THE CARE TEAM IS HIGHLY TRAINED AND KNOWLEDGEABLE TO WORK IN A PERSON-CENTRED WAY FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH YOUNG ONSET DEMENTIA
‘OUR EMPHASIS IS ON FUN ACTIVITIES, LEISURE PURSUITS AND MEANINGFUL ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIFE.’
Our creative activities / therapy staff work together in maximising independence in daily living, to improve or maintain skills, mobility and social networks. Which include:
- Access to local College for a variety of courses
- Mini-bus for outings to swimming baths, gym, cinema, shopping etc.
- Activities Centre for life skills cooking, art and pottery, snooker/table tennis, carpentry etc.
- Computer with web camera, Wii machine etc
- Greenhouse and Pottager
- Bird avery and chicken coop
- 'Village’ bistro
- Banqueting suite for private functions
- Bbq Island
- Access to courses offered by the university of the 3rd age
- Gardening
- Armchair and other gentle exercises
- Music therapy
- Art therapy
- Craftwork
- Baking in our kitchen
- Reminisance therapy - ‘Memories you bring to me’
- Life skills in our Activities Centre-cooking/baking
- Pets - bird avery, chicken coop, visiting pets as therapy, and resident village dog ‘Megan’ whose main residence is in St Mary’s Court!
