St Mary’s Court supported the Alzheimers Awareness Week
13 July 2009
St Mary’s Court supported the Alzheimers Awareness Week, 6th-12th July 2009, by hosting events throughout the week, which visitors, friends and families could attend. Events included live entertainment, training for carers and relatives, a tour of the new young dementia unit, a talk by a relative, a raffle and a truck pull. The main event was a sponsored continuous bike ride (on an exercise bike!), starting from 9am and continuing until 9pm which staff, relatives and residents all took part in. Families and staff also donated items for a car boot sale. To date money raised totals £425, with more money still to come.
Alzheimers is the most common cause of dementia. It is a disease that attacks brain cells where memory is stored and accessed. For more information about Alzheimers please contact St Mary’s Court.
St Mary’s Court would like to thank all the friends and families who helped throughout this week.
