About us

Through the private gated entrance, a sweeping shingle driveway takes you around a 14th century listed dovecote to a welcome that’s always warm and friendly. Set in 10 acres of unspoilt countryside, The Old Deanery Care Village is surrounded by fresh air, established woodland, rolling lawns with unspoilt views and outstanding wildlife, flora and fauna. The grounds enjoy spectacular views of the River Blackwater and the historic Deanery Church of St Mary the Virgin. A walkway around the perimeter allows you to enjoy the outdoors and be at one with nature. For those with ‘green fingers’ the grounds offer an array of gardening facilities, including a greenhouse and an allotment, where you can indulge your passion to your heart’s content.

We realise the value and importance of retaining contact with the community. Participation in social activities and entertainment provides valuable stimulation, motivation, and adds to the quality of life for us all. Consequently, our Social Activities Co-ordinators work hard to plan a full schedule of activities so that every day provides new opportunities for meeting people.
